The GURAS KUNJ trekkers Hut is managed fully by trained local people belonging to the Eco zone of the Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary. Mr. Mingma Norbu Sherpa (Bandu) and Mr. Hissay Gyatso Sherpa is the caretaker and Incharge of Barsey Guras Kunj.

Best Time to Visit

Seasons To see the rhododendrons in bloom, the best time to visit is from March through May. June to September is usually very wet. The second trekking season runs from October to December and January, February. At this time of year, the days are clear and there is little or no haze, so the Kanchenjunga and other snow-capped peaks and ranges are clearly visible.
